Barbara von Tigerstrom is Associate Professor in the College of Law, where she teaches in the areas of health law and ethics, public health law, administrative law, and international law.  She holds a law degree from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in law from the University of Cambridge.  Her current research focuses on legal issues in chronic disease prevention and the regulation of drugs and medical devices.  She has acted as principal investigator on CIHR-funded projects in public health law, and as an investigator and collaborator on several Stem Cell Network-funded projects relating to ethical, legal, and social issues in stem cell research.  Her recent publications include articles and book chapters on the regulation of stem cell-based products and on public health law and policy, including tobacco control, disease surveillance and control, and regulatory measures to promote healthy eating and physical activity.
