Professor Billingsley’s teaching and research interests focus on constitutional law, insurance law, and civil process.  She is a recipient of the Tevie Miller Teaching Award (2005) and the author of General Principles of Canadian Insurance Law (LexisNexis, 2008).

Before joining the faculty as a full-time professor in 2001, Professor Billingsley served the faculty as a sessional / adjunct instructor and practiced civil litigation (primarily in the area of insurance defence) at the  Edmonton law firms of Brownlee Fryett and Sharek Reay.  She is currently a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of the Northwest Territories, a member of the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Insurance Law, and a member of the governing board of the Canadian Forum for Civil Justice. In recent years, Professor Billingsley has been involved with the faculty’s competitive Moot Court program and has served on the Working Committee on Costs for the Rules Project of the Alberta Law Reform Institute.
