The John A. Weir Memorial Law Library is the second largest Canadian law library and provides excellent resources for PhD and LLM research. The Law Library’s electronic resources include most of the major electronic legal resources, allowing students to search thousands of Canadian, foreign and international law reports and law journals online. As a law student you also have easy access to the University of Alberta Libraries system for research in other disciplines. The University of Alberta Libraries system comprises thirteen subject collections, an extensive government documents collection and an inter-library loan system.
Our faculty members have broad research interests and can provide you with outstanding guidance in your area of interest. Some faculty members work in research clusters, including those associated with our Health Law Institute and the Centre for Constitutional Studies. The Health Law Institute is an internationally renowned research centre considering issues at the intersection of science, ethics, economics and the law. The Centre for Constitutional Studies is engaged in the interdisciplinary study of Canadian and international constitutional matters.
