Research and Professional Development Seminars

Faculty Research Seminar Series

The Faculty of Law organizes a Faculty Research Seminar series held during the academic year. All graduate students are invited to attend all of the Faculty Research Seminars. Faculty members and graduate students who wish to make seminar presentations on their current research are encouraged to do so. Graduate students are particularly encouraged to make presentations on their thesis or dissertation research. The Faculty Research Seminar series provides an informal setting for faculty and student researchers to share their current work and receive feedback. The Series also gives graduate students exposure to current research topics, methodologies and ideas.

The Seminar schedule is usually organized in August to September of each year. At that time, graduate students will be invited to participate. The full schedule for the Seminar series will be circulated to all graduate students.

Periodic Seminars for Graduate Students

Periodic seminars for graduate students will be organized during the academic year, usually in the Winter semester. These seminars will cover professional development topics such as research ethics, getting your work published, effective teaching strategies and applying for academic positions. The research ethics seminars are mandatory. For further details on the University of Alberta research ethics training requirements see Ethics Training.
